Golf

Golf is one of the most popular sports in the world; with courses just about anywhere you look. Whether conducting business or simply enjoying a few rounds with friends, for many, there’s no better way to spend the afternoon.
The sport has a long and rich history, dating back to the 1100s in Scotland. Many earlier courses, such as St. Andrews, didn’t have a full 18 holes. Guests would play 11 holes, reach the end of the property, then turn around and play the same holes backwards. When the holes were deemed to be too short, some were combined to create the more traditional 18-hole courses.
Today, luxury resorts such as La Torretta Del Lago Resort & Spa® have elevated this beloved sport to an even more enjoyable experience complimented by spa treatments and an array of fine dining. What better way to unwind from a stressful day than with a few rounds of golf followed by a soothing massage?
Resort golf is not just for the experienced. From avid golfers to amateurs longing to improve their handicap, this beloved pastime can be enjoyed by everyone. And a resort is often just the place to test the waters. Any good golf resort will always have on-staff professionals as well as a driving range where beginners can practice before stepping on the links.
La Torretta Del Lago Resort & Spa® is no exception. Here guests can indulge in a golf package that will allow them to get the most out of their dream golf vacation. These packages include fabulously outfitted rooms, golfing amenities, and access to other areas of the Resort. The Resort features Golf Cottages, where guests are able to enjoy the view of the course from their porch.
And what a course it is! Lush landscaping meets brilliant design on this brand new course, which was redesigned by renowned landscape architect Jeffrey D. Blume.
The La Torretta Del Lago website explains the redesign as follows:
Some alterations were made in the course configuration relative to par to improve playability. Specifically, this related to reversing the front and back nine holes to their original rotation, changing the fourth and thirteenth holes from weak par fives to strong par 4s, and changing the ninth hole from a brutal par 4 into an enjoyable, risk/reward par 5. Even though this resulted in reducing the par from 72 to 71, the overall length of the course was increased by approximately 150 yards by relocating back tees and repositioning greens where possible.
For those whose idea of a perfect vacation includes spending quality time on the green, a luxury resort and spa with a golf course is sure to delight.
